Single gold rules on front and back boards and outlining spine compartments, book edges and inner margins. Gold tooled raised bands. Gold engraved lettering. Marbled endpapers. A lovely copy of Thoreau's first book. Text block is clean, unmarked and fine. Leather binding is split at front hinge, board is held by endpapers. In very good slipcase. / in very good black cloth slipcase with beveled edges.
